Fon-Duluth Casino

Fond-Du-Luth has a small sized live poker room on the second floor of their quant casino located on Superior Street in the center of Duluth.

There are a couple of ways to get to the Fond Du Luth poker room. You can go the usual way and enter the front door, go through the slot machines on the right and proceed up the escalator. The poker room is in the center of the room around the left side of the escalators.

Of course you can enter the Fond Du Luth casino by using the door on the second floor as well. If you choose to do this, just go through the doors and look toward the center of the room for the poker room.

The poker room is small, with only 4 tables, but it works because there aren’t many players. Fond Du Luth has the usual regular players and the typical game played is Texas Holdem in either $2/$4 or $3/$6 stakes, but they also spread Seven Card Stud on occasion.

When I was there they had a $3/$6 game and a $2-$10 spread game of Texas Holdem. I found it funny that a guy at the table had a wedding band on, but was with a dumb woman who didn’t have a band on. He gave her $60 and told her to shut up and play, obviously this woman was a hooker that came in from the streets.

To sum up the competition, they were very weak at their game. Unfortunately, I couldn’t catch a hand for crap, but I did manage to pull back 3 winning pots in the course of 2 hours with the whopping 7 hands that I voluntarily played.

I didn’t like all of the smoke in the casino; my shirt actually wreaked of it after leaving. I also didn’t like that players were allowed to smoke at the poker table. I had a guy sitting right next to me and blowing smoke all around without care. The sad part was that he was a regular. I also didn’t like the environment outside of the casino. I felt as if I was going to be robbed at all times because of the people staring at me.

The minimum buy-in amount at Fon Duluth Casino is 5 times the big blind. For example, in a $3/$6 game the minimum amount would be $30.
