No Limit Poker is said to be the cadillac of poker and you will know why from studying the basic no limit poker rule guide. If you think of the best poker players, how many play no limit poker? I am going to bet you that at least half of them play no limit poker. Of course, there’s good reason for this. No limit poker rules make it easy for professionals to make a tremendous profit.
No Limit Poker Blinds and Antes
The blind and ante rules in no limit poker are the same as the blind and ante rule of fixed limit poker. The only difference is how the game is labeled in terms of stakes. For example, a $2/$4 fixed limit game has a $1 small blind and a $2 big blind. On the other hand a $2/$4 no limit game has blinds of $2/$4, if that makes any sense. Of course there are a couple exceptions to this rule, but that is the norm.
No Limit Poker Betting
The main difference between fixed limit poker and no limit poker is the betting. You may bet up to as much as you have in front of you in a no limit poker game, while you can only bet a fixed amount in a fixed limit game. New players may not know that they are only allowed to bet a minimum amount of what would be the fixed amount for that round. For example, in a game with a $1 small blind and $2 big blind the minimum bet for the preflop and flop is $1 and the minimum bet for the turn and river is $2.
In addition to that, players who want to make a raise must raise a minimum of that amount that was bet before them. If I bet $6 in a $1/$2 game, the minimum that I can raise would be $6, making my bet $12 total. The next player would have to raise to a minimum of $18 total, but could also bet up to as much as he has in front of them.
